I've already begun getting emotional about leaving Japan. If you know me, you also know that it's not hard for me to get emotional..ha-ha! So, I decided to highlight my friend Melanie on a Fantastic Friday. She deserve a huge shout out and I'll try not to get too mushy since it's a Fantastic Friday entry!
The photos above were both taken at Tokyo Disney Resort about eight months apart. The photo on the left was taken on Wednesday by our friend Dana. When I downloaded the photo I almost cried. As you can see, the sun was setting behind us, just to the right of Melanie. What a fitting picture during our last few days together. When we first went to the park, it was more for the adults than for the kids. They were both still so little. Now, they can hold their heads up, walk (almost for Sloan but Carter is a pro), eat real food, laugh, talk...they are such different kids from that visit eight months ago.
It's been an amazing gift to have found Melanie. Having a friend like her here as made such a difference in my overall experience. We live close, which also helped. We enjoyed walks, meeting up at the Tokyo play centers, and of course our Wednesday play group. She showed me so much more of Tokyo than I would have seen by myself. She was also there for me when I had questions about Sloan. It always seemed that Carter was a few weeks ahead of Sloan on so many levels, which helped!
Her friendship is invaluable! There are a few people in my life that I can truly say I will be friends with forever. Those rare few will always hold a special place in my heart! Melanie will join them!
Melanie, thanks for being a great friend! I will miss seeing you 100 times a week, but I'll keep up with you via your blog and emails. When you get back to the states, with your newest bundle of joy, we will be down to see you!
The sun may have set on our time together in Tokyo, but it will never set on our friendship! Best of luck with the new baby and just in case you were wondering, I'm praying for a little girl! ;)

You're better with the words, so I'll just say thank you! We will DEFINITELY miss you guys!
